BAT and BE Support Safer Internet Day 2025
Schools and Provisions across Brunel joined the global initiative of Safer Internet Day. With many of our children and young people taking part in activities to learn more about staying safe online including digital threats and scams.
Churchward School worked with students from Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 to equip them with essential skills to navigate the digital world safely.
For KS3 students, the focus was on identifying online scams. They explored real-life scenarios, from phishing emails to fake social media advertisements, helping students recognise warning signs such as suspicious links, urgent language and offers ‘too good to be true’.
With KS4 and KS5 students, they explored more complex digital threats, such as online impersonation, investment fraud and money-muling schemes. Students also engaged in critical conversations about victim blaming and the need for a supportive online community.
In all key stages, they discussed online sexual extortion emphasising the importance of reporting suspicious activity and seeking support.
The sessions sparked great discussions with students sharing personal experiences and strategies to protect themselves and others.
As educators, we remain committed to fostering a safer, more informed digital environment. The internet is constantly evolving, but with the right knowledge and vigilance, we can all play a part in making it a safer space for everyone.
