At the Brunel we are committed to ensuring equality and diversity of opportunity for all of our pupils, students, young people, staff and parents. This includes age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. We aim to empower a culture of inclusion and diversity in which all those connected to the Brunel feel proud of their identity and ability to participate fully.
We ensure we tackle discrimination through the positive promotion of equality and diversity by openly challenging any form of bullying and stereotyping. The culture is seen throughout the Brunel and applies to all of our Education Provisions (EPs) therefore making our EPs a pleasant, safe and welcoming sites to all visitors.
Our vision statement at the Brunel is ‘no barriers only potential’ which identifies with our culture for Equality and Diversity and is practised throughout. Along with our vision, we have a purpose made mission, ‘Brunel is a creative educational family committed to opening doors, opening minds and realising potential for all’. Again, very clear our E&D practices fit into our mission to succeed and by opening doors and minds, allows us to share our practices in line with the Equality Act 2010. All of our young people have the opportunity to succeed and to reach their highest level of personal achievements in and out of our EPs, through our provisions we continue to grow our young people.
Our recruitment processes are designed to be open and honest and we promote a fair and consistent approach to applications. We regularly review applications and ensure we are selecting the best possible candidates, irrespective of their age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. All decisions made on appointments, whether internal or external are made in line with the law and reflective of our open culture, alongside the Equality Act 2010.
